Dream Projects
I-5 Commuter Link
Just to the south of the I-5 Colonnade Park is another unique project: the WashDOT Bike Commuter Link. The freeway covers 3/8ths of a mile or so of dirt service road, starting at the southern border of the I-5 Colonnade Park and ending at Aloha St., just a few blocks north of REI. This is not part of the Parks Department's land lease or park project, but they will help us work with WashDOT to create this additional commuter link. The width of this corridor could allow twisty mountain bike trails along with the straight commuter trail. This is another excellent project that reclaims open space for active use.
Clock Tower in Ernst Park
Ernst Park is next to the Fremont library. During its public process we suggested a Clock Tower or reading tower with perches where one can sit in the sun to read. A clock tower is a natural element in a park next to the library in the business core. The idea has caught on but will need to be managed and financed in a later phase of the park. The Parks Department only had money for the first infrastructure phase of the park. The park final schematic had a designated site for the future clock tower, but no design or funding, which makes it a natural project for Urban Sparks. Please call us with your recommendations of artists and clock experts.

45th Street Viewpoint in Fremont
The view is there, at 2nd Ave. NW. A little seating would make a beautiful resting place midway up the staircase. Contact us if you'd like to lead this modest but novel project.
